The renewal works of the old Boa Nova Military Hospital in Angra do Heroísmo will start this month under the terms of contract work agreement signed today between Regional Government and the contractor.
At the end of the signing ceremony, the Regional Director for Culture said that the work, with an estimated budget of 1.7 million Euros, is the accomplishment of an old aspiration "to renew and put again into operation" this important 17th century building.
Following the renewal and adaptation works, the old hospital will house the Manuel Coelho Baptista de Lima Military History Centre of the Angra do Heroísmo where the museum's military collection will be displayed.
"The military reserve collection will be also stored in the new facilities," added the government official.
Jorge Bruno stressed that the investment made by the Government will also "qualify the historical centre of Angra do Heroísmo and for that reason the Regional Government has put so much effort into its implementation."
