The Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture promotes the Sound@Azores|New Spaces - Time project by Verónica Metello between October 12 and 15. It will take place at Angra do Heroísmo Museum and Boa Nova Chapel.
This international project brings together artists who develop innovative projects that allow us to explore the relation between memory and heritage, the notion of space, sound, performance and new media in an analogue and virtual reality, offering unprecedented immersive experiences.
In this context, the physical space where these artists develop their work is crucial for their specificity and uniqueness, as they are created based on synergies and participation. Therefore, this project selected spaces of heritage reference, whose architectural, artistic, historical and acoustic uniqueness was incorporated into the artistic work/performance.
Its implementation offers a new use for this space and raises a new awareness for the importance of heritage that are brought to fruition in synergy with new technologies, creating its own contemporary concept of space and time.
The programme of this initiative includes a round table on the theme "Theory of performance and space-time" featuring Verónica Metello, Assunção Correia Melo and many other artists at the Boa Nova Chapel on October 12 between 5 PM and 6:30 PM. It will be followed by "Floating Devices," installation and conversation with artist Rodrigo Carvalho, at the same venue at 8 PM.
"Floating Devices" will continue the next day at the same place between 10 AM and 1 PM.

In turn, the Auditorium of Angra do Heroísmo Museum will be the venue of a performance by "NaN:Collider” at 7 PM, followed by a conversation with artists João Martinho Moura and António Rafael.
"The Ultimate Floating Selfie Machine" project will also take place on October 14. On the same day, the Angra do Heroísmo will host a performance titled "Included Middle" at 7 PM as well as a debate with artist Adriana Sá.
