The António Dacosta Painting Prize 2018 was awarded to Vítor Manuel Bernardo Almeida, according to the jury's decision published today in the Official Journal.
The prize in the Painting category, without distinguishing any specific area, was awarded to Vítor Almeida for the work "The Jealousy of Cain and Abel." The jury was composed of Duarte Melo, as a member of the Regional Council of Culture, João Urbano Melo Resendes, as artist, and José Luís Gordo Porfírio, as art critic.
Created in 2014 by the Regional Government, this distinction aims to reward regional artists as well as to value regional cultural activity in fine arts, more specifically in the painting, abstract painting and figurative painting categories.
The prize, amounting to six thousand Euros, is awarded every two years (even years). It has already distinguished in previous editions artists Catarina Vieira Pereira and Maria José Berquó de Aguiar Rodrigues Cavaco.
