The Wine Museum, one of the three centres of the Pico Museum, opens a new long-term exhibition in the village of Madalena on Wednesday afternoon at 6:30 PM.
The opening of this exhibition will be attended by the Vice-President of the Government, Sérgio Ávila, who will preside over the opening session on behalf of the President of the Government.
The implementation of this project took into account the history of “Verdelho” wine production since its introduction, disappearance and revival as well as an educational and recreational approach to the sensory universe of wine as a product of reference of civilisations.
The Pico Wine as a brand image and a factor of regional identity and the role of the Wine Museum as a tool in the assertion and development of wine production at the present time are other aspects highlighted by this long-term exhibition.
With this initiative, the Wine Museum aims to develop a museographical project of reference in the context of local and regional identity, but with the possibility of extending its scope to an international level, which is required to museums nowadays.
