Works awarded with "Daniel de Sá" Humanities Prize in 2016 presented in Ponta Delgada
The Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, will promote the presentation of the works awarded in 2016 with the "Daniel de Sá" Humanities Prize at the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive Monday, November 13.
"New Lights on the Settlement and Name Places of Flores and Corvo: João da Fonseca and António Carneiro in the Portuguese Kingdom, São Tomé e Príncipe, Cape Verde and the Azores (15th-16th centuries)" by Pierluigi Bragaglia and "The Other Side of the World" by Paula de Sousa Lima were the recipients awarded in the Essay and Literary Creation categories, respectively.
The presentation session will take place at 6:30 PM. It will be attended by the Regional Secretary for Education and Culture, Avelino Meneses, the Regional Director for Culture, Nuno Lopes, and the two award-winning authors.
Pierluigi Bragaglia has bas lived on Flores Island since 1990. He has published several works in the areas of History and Tourism, while Paula de Sousa Lima, a secondary school teacher in the Azores, is the author of three novels and several short stories.
The "Daniel de Sá" Humanities Prize is awarded every two years (even years) to an original work about the Azores, written in Portuguese, produced by a national or foreign author in the Essay and Literary Creation categories.
