Nature and mission
The Regional Directorate of Sport, in front designated by RDS, is the executive service of the SREC that has for mission conceiving, coordinating and supporting the activities in the ambit of the athletic system, including the school sport.
Competences
To the RDS it competes, namely:
a) To secure the execution of the politics defined for the school sport and athletic system;
b) To promote the articulation of the athletic politics with other sectors of government action;
c) To promote and to give dynamism to the practice of sport and of the physical and athletic activities;
d) To give support to the entities and structures of the athletic associative movement;
e) To give dynamism and to support the school sport;
f) To promote and to support the practice of well-adjusted physical and athletic activities;
g) To secure the management of the regional athletic park;
h) To cooperate in the planning, construction and equipment of the athletic installations of the Region;
i) To contribute to the definition and to give opinion on the projects relative to the construction or improvement of the athletic installations and respective equipment;
j) To practice the competences defined by law in the ambit of the regime of the licensing and of the technical responsibility by the athletic installations open to the public and activities there developed;
k) To promote and to support the formation of the human resources of the sport;
l) To coordinate and to develop programs in the area of the athletic medicine;
m) To proceed to the gathering, treatment and spread of documentation, informations and statistical data in the ambit of the physical activity and the sport;
n) To promote the realization of studies and projects of investigation in their areas of competence;
o) To celebrate the contract-programs in the terms of the Legislative Regional Decree nº 14/2005/A, of the 5th of July, to authorize and to attribute the corresponding financial supports;
p) To authorize and to attribute the transfers of the amounts resulting from the contracts ARAAL, of other contracts and agreements that come to be celebrated and to practice all the subsequent acts.
