Eight students from Azorean schools will participate in the national phase of the 2015/2016 School Cross-Country competition to take in Vila Nova de Famalicão Friday and Saturday.
The Azorean delegation in the Beginners category is made up of students Juliana Veríssimo and Luís Bernardo from Tomás de Borba Basic Education and Secondary School, Inês Paulo from Antero de Quental Secondary School and Bruno Ávila from Manuel de Arriaga Secondary School.
Érica Aguiar from Francisco Ferreira Drummond Basic Education School, Tatiana Melo from Manuel de Arriaga Secondary School, Hélder Soares from Nordeste Basic Education School and Antero de Quental Secondary School were the students selected to compete in the Juvenile level.
These students, who are accompanied by two teachers and a technician from the Regional Directorate for Sport, were selected in accordance with the results achieved in the Regional Phase, held on São Miguel Island on January 30.
In turn, Joana Medeiros from Roberto Ivens Basic Education School, Elena Furk from Biscoitos Basic Education School, Carolina Abano from Francisco Ferreira Drummond Basic Education School, Elisa Soares from Velas Basic Education and Secondary School and David Sebag from Castanheiro School (private school) were selected for the National Phase of MegaSprinter 2015/2016, which will be held in mid-April in the city of Lagoa, Algarve.
By participating in the different phases of these school sports projects, regional students will have the opportunity to acquire and enhance the awareness of certain values, such as belonging to a community, which is in line with the goals of ProSucesso - Azores for Education, programme for the promotion of school success.
