The Regional Director for Sport highlighted in Ponta Delgada the "relevant role" of parents in following their children's sporting and training activities, emphasising the "importance of the principles and rules of ethics in sport."
António Gomes spoke at the presentation of the 12th International Football Tournament - Azores U11, an event promoted by Clube União Micaelense with the support of the Regional Government. On the occasion, he gave to the organisation a personalised t-shirt containing the Azores Brand as well as a message calling for ethics in sport, involving the presence of families in the activities of their young ones.
The Regional Director pointed out that the children's football tournament organised by União Micaelense represents a "model of quality and rigour that promotes a spirit of healthy companionship among all participants."
The 12th International Football Tournament - Azores U11 takes place at Jácome Correia Municipal Stadium in Ponta Delgada on March 29, 30 and 31.
The tournament features the participation of 16 teams, including three foreign teams from the USA, Canada and Spain and three from Portugal Mainland, involving more than 300 athletes and about half a thousand accompanying adults.
This year, the patron of the event will be Durval Ferreira, a historical player who was also the coach and manager of Clube União Micaelense.
