Regional Government supports hiring of qualified coaches to consolidate Azorean sport at national level
The ordinance regulating the granting of support to sports clubs for the hiring of qualified coaches was published today in the Official Journal.
The hiring of these coaches aims to guarantee the training and competition of the athletes included under the national high-performance status as well as of the teams of the clubs participating in national high-level competitions level or in international competitions.
According to the ordinance, "the relevant results achieved by athletes and clubs involved in high performance project as well as by athletes participating in national and international competitions requires an ongoing investment in human resources, particularly in the hiring of qualified coaches by clubs to support the organisation and training of teams and athletes,"
The document adds that "dedication to training and results achieved in national and international competitions are a reference for the Autonomous Region and for young people in particular. It contributes to the understanding of sport as an component in the formation of full citizens as well as a component that strengthens regional identity."
In this ordinance of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, the strategic goals of the Regional Government's Programme are also evoked: "promoting the excellence of sports associations in terms of their organisation and expression, and increasing the support to the preparation of high-level athletes towards their participation in the Olympic and Paralympic Games."
The ordinance enters into force Friday. The maximum amount of support to be awarded to clubs per sports season and coach hired vary between 11,850 and 15,500 Euros, depending on whether it concerns individual sports with participation of teams or clubs with athletes included under the high-performance status and collective sports.
