The Regional Phase of the 15th School Cross Country, held after the School and Island phases, will take place at the Santa Luzia Forest Park on the island of Pico on February 1.
 
This competition will involve the participation of students, male and female, in the Beginners and Juvenile categories, who have won the Island Phase.
 
The School and Island phases of this year's edition, held throughout December and in the early days of January, registered the participation of 5,200 students from almost all regional school establishments.
 
The Regional Directorate for Sport promotes the development of the School Cross Country in the Azores, an initiative of National School Sport, in collaboration with the Portuguese Athletics Association for the 15th consecutive year.
 
Among other goals, this project aims to foster the practice of physical activity in schools as well as to select the representatives of the Azores for the National School Cross Country, which will take place in Figueira da Foz on February 14 and 15.
