The Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Sport, published today in the Official Journal the order stipulating the reference values regarding the allocation of financial support for the development of the "Sports Schools" project this year.
It aims to contribute to the creation of opportunities for sports practice among children enrolled in elementary school, providing them with the first contact with an organised and regular sports practice.
The project's main goals focus on the regular and organised practice of physical activities among the elementary school population, the contribution to the global, balanced and harmonious formation of children, and the development of the taste for regular sports practice.
Encouraging the global development of children's skills, promoting sports initiation and contributing to the socialisation process are other goals of this project, which has already been through many years of development. In 2020, various activities will be held under this initiative on eight islands of the archipelago.
The programme-contracts for the development of sports that will now be signed, following the submission of applications, involve 126 entities from sports associations, corresponding to 513 centres and encompassing about 5,200 children.
The financial support to be granted amounts to 295 thousand Euros and the overall allocation of the current legislative term reaches 1.2 million Euros.
