Azores register positive results in seven subjects in the 1st phase of national secondary school exams
According to data released today by the Educational Evaluation Institute (IAVE), the Azores registered positive results in seven of the 21 subjects in the first phase of the national secondary school exams.
The Region registered once again positive results in English, German, Drawing, Latin and the Portuguese for Foreign Students and this year the results were also positive in History and Culture of Arts and Physics and Chemistry A.
The regional average exceeds the national average in English with 142.39 (national average of 137), and in History and Culture of Arts, with 124.9 (national average of 88).
With regard to 2015, the results improved in nine subjects, including German, English, Biology and Geology, Descriptive Geometry A, Philosophy, Physics and Chemistry, Geography, History and Culture of Arts and Portuguese Literature.
As for the Math A and Portuguese exams, the average declined slightly, being in line with the trend registered at national level.
Regarding the Portuguese exam, there a decrease of 1.74 points in the Azores, from 95.96 to 94.22, and of two points at national level, from 102 to 100, while in the Math exam the Region fell 15.81 points, from 103.54 to 87.73, and the national average dropped nine points, from 105 to 96.
The results obtained in the National Secondary School, which have a weight of 30% in the final market, only reflect part of the work carried out in schools by students, teachers, technicians and school leaders.
Nevertheless, these results should motivate everyone towards the implementation of teaching, organisational and curricular management strategies that respond to the problems identified and reflect the commitment of each school and each teacher with the educational success of their students.
