Regional Phase of National Reading Competition marks World Book and Copyright Day in the Azores
Students Marta Rosa, from Francisco Ferreira Drummond Basic Education School (Terceira), and André Costa, from Manuel Arriaga Secondary School (Faial) won the Regional Phase of the National Reading Competition 2015/2016 in the Junior High School and Secondary School levels, respectively.
Students Valeria Gomes and Margarida Cordeiro, from Madalena Basic Education and Secondary School (Pico), Tomás Sampaio, from Antero de Quental Secondary School (S. Miguel) and Mariana Seabra, from Calheta Basic Education and Secondary School (S. Jorge) were also distinguished in the Junior High School level.
Students Miguel Bettencourt, from Vitorino Nemésio School (Terceira), José Estevão and Carlota Vieira, from Jerónimo Emiliano de Andrade School (Terceira) and Filipa Medeiros, from Antero de Quental School, were distinguished in the Secondary School level.
The winners of the regional stage of the competition, which took place today under the World Book and Copyright Day celebrations, will represent the Azores in the national phase of the competition to be held in Lisbon in June and July.
The National Reading Competition (CNL) is an initiative of the National Reading Plan and aims to promote the love of reading and a closer contact of students with books. In the Azores, the event counts on the collaboration of the Regional Reading Plan, through the Regional Directorate for Education.
