From October 25-29, the Ribeira Grande Basic Education School on the island of São Miguel will bring together fifteen teachers from several countries under the European programme - Comenius.
These teachers will discuss the various activities that have been developed within the multilateral partnership programme designated as "Water Song," which started in September 2013 and will end by July 2015.
Based on the theme of water, this project involves the participation of students and teachers from Ribeira Grande Basic Education School, who will prepare and carry out the activities related to the theme. These activities will also be developed in collaboration with the teachers and students from the remaining participating countries.
Several activities have been developed under this project, including the creation of a mascot, reading and analysis of short stories about the theme of water, presentation of regional or national songs on the same theme, and the creation of a common hymn for the project.
On this visit to São Miguel, participants will attend a theatre play on "The Legend of Sete Cidades," staged by Ribeira Grande Basic Education School, at Teatro Ribeiragrandense. The event will be followed by presentation of the project's and the school's anthems.
The "Water Song" project is funded by the European Union. It involves the participation of schools from nine countries, including Portugal, Spain, France, Wales (United Kingdom), Turkey, Iceland, Finland, Germany and Greece.
