Young Azorean among top five junior high school students in National Reading Competition
Marta Rosa, a junior high school of Francisco Ferreira Drummond Basic Education School in Vila de São Sebastião, Terceira, was ranked among the top five junior high school students in the National Reading Competition 2015/2016.
For the first time, the Azores were in the finals of the National Reading Competition, which is now in its 10th edition.
The Terceira student participated, together with André Costa, a student of Manuel de Arriaga Secondary School (Horta), in the national phase of the National Reading Competition 2015/2016 that took place Wednesday at the Municipal Library of Santa Maria da Feira.
In late April, both Azorean students won the Regional Phase of the National Reading Competition 2015/2016 in Angra do Heroísmo in the Junior High School and Secondary School categories, respectively.
The National Phase of this Competition was broadcast live by RTP1 on the TV programme "Agora Nós" and may be viewed online at http://www.rtp.pt/play/p2223/e243394/agora-nos/509555.
The National Reading Competition (CNL) is an initiative of the National Reading Plan and aims to promote the love of reading and a closer contact of students with books. In the Azores, the event counts on the collaboration of the Regional Reading Plan, through the Regional Directorate for Education.
