Azorean Government launches public debate on legal documents for the cultural sector
The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Culture launched today the public discussion a series of legal documents on culture at the following electronic address: http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/menus/topocima/espacocidadao/consultapublica.
The proposals under discussion focus on the legal framework for the following areas: the protection and recognition of movable and immovable cultural heritage; the support scheme established for the regional administration in the preservation of cultural building heritage and movable heritage belonging to private entities; and the amendments to the measures and support to the cataloguing, recovery, preservation and use of Azorean whaling heritage.
Furthermore, the specific scheme for the protection and recognition of the cultural building heritage of the classified area of Angra do Heroísmo as well as the definition of the support scheme for private entities will be under public discussion until February 21.
This discussion, which will culminate in the assessment of the Regional Government's proposals by the Legislative Assembly of the Azores, is intended to collect contributions for the improvement of the government's proposals, thus fulfilling the purpose defended by Luiz Fagundes Duarte on several occasions.
