The National Parliament will host the "Youth Parliament" session on Monday and Tuesday. This year, the initiative will discuss the theme "Fighting against Discrimination." The session will be attended by four Azorean schools, represented by students as well as by an accompanying teacher, who is also the programme's coordinator at school.
Following the selection at the regional session held at the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores on March 13, a total of eight students and four teachers will participate in the national session.
The Azorean schools will be represented by students Ana Sousa, Sara Goulart and teacher André Moura (Laranjeiras Secondary School); students Maria Leonor Bicudo, Ana Costa and teacher Carla Ponte (Vila Franca do Campo Basic Education and Secondary School); students Ieva Dapkevicius, Marta Patrocínio and teacher Maria do Carmo Cardoso (Jerónimo Emiliano de Andrade Secondary School) and by students Nicole Silveira, Margarida Simas and teacher Francisco Medeiros ( Cardeal Costa Nunes Basic Education and Secondary School).
Furthermore, students Verónica Janeiro, from Laranjeiras Secondary School, and Madalena Cardos, from Jerónimo Emiliano de Andrade Secondary School, will participate in the national session as journalists, being responsible for making a report that will be published in the school newspaper.
