Contract work for rehabilitation of Airport Cinema on Santa Maria has been authorised by the Court of Auditors
The Court of Auditors - Azores Section has authorised the contract work for the rehabilitation of the Airport Cinema on the island of Santa Maria.
According to an order issued by the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture already published in the Official Journal, this work has a price of four million Euros and a completion period of 540 days.
The contract work falls within the interventions promoted by the Government of the Azores for the rehabilitation of Santa Maria's historical heritage and the safeguarding of cultural heritage in the Region.
The rehabilitation of this building built by the Americans during World War II fulfils a commitment taken by the Regional Government towards Santa Maria islands. It will endow the island with a cultural infrastructure similar to existing ones in the archipelago.
The future Santa Maria Airport Cinema will be provided with the appropriate conditions for various events, including theatre, dance, music and movies and conferences.
With the Court of Auditors' approval, the necessary procedures for the awarding of the contract work to the consortium Marques, S.A./Somague – Ediçor, Engenharia, S.A./Tecnovia – Sociedade de Empreitadas, S.A. have been concluded.
