The Coordinating Commission of the Regional Reading Plan (PRL) met this morning by the first time.
The meeting was organised with the purpose of defining strategies to implement the Reading Plan at a regional level.
The event was attended by the Regional Secretary for Education welcomed the Commission members and thanked them for the having accepted the invitation to become part of this Commission.
Cláudia Cardoso also conveyed to the Commission members her belief in the implementation of the Regional Reading Plan as an essential tool for the creation and development of reading habits.
Therefore, the Regional Secretary for Education and Training called for the commitment of the Coordination Commission on the work to be developed so that the Plan may be implemented soon and that the remaining members of the Scientific and Honour Commissions may also carry out their work.
The Coordinating Committee is composed by Catarina Meneses Azevedo, Madalena San Bento, Margarida Quinteiro, Paula Alexandra Cotter Cabral and Paula Sousa Lima.
In addition to choosing recommended books, the PRL also intends to stimulate the interest for reading through various regional campaigns to promote books, literature, libraries and authors. This initiative also envisages the creation of reading projects, addressed at priority target groups, and the establishment of Reading Clubs in all regional schools.
Furthermore, the Regional Reading Plan also provides the awarding of prizes to distinguish the initiatives promoting books and reading habits.
