Government signs contract to reduce tuition fees for students enrolled in private school
The Government has a signed a contract with Tetrapi Centro de Actividades Educacionais Lda to reduce the tuition fees for a maximum up to 200 students enrolled in that private school establishment on the island of São Miguel.
The decision is part of a simple contract, published in the Official Journal on Monday, being a counterpart for the allocation of funds granted to that school by the Regional Government under the Statute on Private, Cooperative and Solidarity Education.
Under the contract, valid for one school year which may be automatically renewed for a period up to five school years, if neither party requests its termination, Tetrapi is committed to reduce to reduce the tuition fees, the amount being of 100 Euros for elementary school students, 200 Euros for middle school students, 225 Euros for junior high school students and 250 Euros for senior high school students.
Furthermore, Tetrapi is committed not to refuse, the enrolment of any child in that school establishment, if there are available places, based on socio-economic discrimination of the respective household as well as to submit management indicators to the Regional Secretariat for Education and Training for statistical purposes and an update register containing the number students/children every three months.
The disclosure of the contract in order to make parents acquainted with it is another obligation that Tetrapi must meet. In turn, the regional Secretariat for Education and Training is committed to allocate the financial support in accordance to the provisions of the Statute on Private, Cooperative and Solidarity Education.
