Government of the Azores launches tender for construction of Judo Hall on São Jorge
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, has launched the tender for the awarding of the contract work for the construction of a Judo Hall on São Jorge with a base price of 790 thousand Euros and a completion period of 210 days.
The work includes the construction of a pavilion with support facilities for the practice of this sport. It will provide the Azores with an important infrastructure that will contribute to the promotion of Judo at a regional level. Currently, there are Azorean Judo athletes competing for a place in the 2016 Olympic Games, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro.
The contract work, whose tender was published in the Official Gazette, falls within the policies promoted by the Azorean Government towards the promotion of sport in the Region, with special emphasis on Judo; the latter is rapidly developing in the archipelago as evidenced by the growing number of athletes and the results achieved nationally and internationally.
The sports facility will create conditions of excellence for the preparation of the best regional athletes as well as for the preparation training of regional, national and international teams at the highest level.
