Government of the Azores supports safeguarding of whaling heritage with the allocation of more than 122 thousand Euros
According to the contracts published today in the Official Journal, the Regional Government has allocated more than 122 thousand Euros to 55 projects developed in the area of whaling heritage.
The support intends to cover the costs with the conservation and recovery works on 45 vessels owned by institutions and individuals from the islands of Terceira, Graciosa, Graciosa, S. Jorge, Pico, Faial and Flores.
The order published by the Regional Secretary for Education and Culture provides that the support will also comprise 10 training projects in the art of sailing and rowing on whaling boasts and the acquisition of rescue equipment.
