In accordance with a dispatch published in the Official Journal today, Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture has appointed the jury that will evaluate the works competing for the "Daniel de Sá" Humanities Prize. The jury is made up by five members of recognised merit in the areas in competition.
The members of this jury are as follows: Carlos Reis, University of Coimbra; Avelino Meneses and Rui Sousa Martins, University of the Azores; João Saramago, researcher at the Centre of Linguistics of the University of Lisbon and writer João de Melo. The order was signed on January 30.
The "Daniel de Sá" Humanities Award was established in 2014 by the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture, through the Regional Directorate for Culture, with the aim of distinguishing, every two years, an original work written in Portuguese under the ”Azores" theme by a national or foreign author. This prize is divided into the categories of Literature, Linguistics, History, Philosophy, Sociology and Anthropology.
With a cash value of 12 thousand Euros, this prize is intended "to promote creativity in the Azores," sated the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture. The government official spoke to journalists during the presentation of the prizes in the areas of Humanities, Painting and Architecture.
