"Natália Correia - A timeless woman" is the title of a documentary exhibition that will be open at the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive (BPARPD) on Saturday under celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Azorean writer's death.
With this initiative, the Ponta Delgada Library intends to "embark on a journey through the life Natália Correia that focuses on her literary works and political life, using the collections that make up her estate."
The exhibition catalogue mentions that "an interconnection was made between the printed works belonging to her book collection and the respective manuscripts or other relevant documents"; the latter are part of the writer's estate that was recently included in the collections of Ponta Delgada Public Library.
This exhibition also highlights the writer's ties to the Azores and her island; she was the author of the regional anthem's lyrics.
Regarding this aspect, the exhibition also focuses on some of the most emblematic sites to Natália Correia as well as her ties to people, highlighting her participation in one of the most significant festivities celebrated by the Azorean people - the Cult of the Holy Spirit.
The Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Culture, Luiz Fagundes Duarte, will announce on April 3 a programme of activities that will be held across the Region to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Natália Correia's birth and the 20th anniversary of her death.
