Public tender for rehabilitation of Airport Cinema on Santa Maria published in the Official Gazette
The announcement of the public tender for the contract work for the rehabilitation of the Airport Cinema in Vila do Porto, included in the rehabilitation of Santa Maria's historical heritage, was published today in the Official Gazette.
The public tender procedure now launched establishes that the contract work, with a budget of four million Euros, includes all interventions defined in the execution projects and tender specifications in terms of type, quantity and technical conditions.
With a completion period of 540 days, this work falls within the policies pursued by the Regional Government to safeguard the historical heritage of Santa Maria and the cultural heritage of the Region.
The rehabilitation of the building, built by the Americans during World War II, represents the fulfilment of a commitment that the Government of the Azores took with Santa Maria islanders in order to provide the island with a cultural facility that is in line with similar ones throughout the archipelago.
The future Santa Maria Airport Cinema will be provided with the appropriate conditions for various events, including theatre, dance, music and movies and conferences.
