Fayal Sport Club, one of the oldest clubs nationwide with an important tradition, "represents an effort of the society that created it as well as the continuity and the work developed over many generations."
The idea was conveyed by the Regional Director for Sport during a dinner to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the "Verdes" from Alagoa that took place in Horta on Thursday night.
For António Gomes, who attended the event on behalf of the President of the Government, it is "immensely gratifying" to be able to follow the path of clubs that have made it through successive moments of more or less difficulties by "uniting around a common ideal."
Basically, added the government official, "this is what a club should be; a club must have an ideal that unites its members as well as the population it represents."
Congratulating Fayal Sport Club for another birthday, the Regional Director for Sport also addressed "a word of comfort and hope to sports associations in general and stressed that we can all continue to do our work to ensure that regional sport continues on the path of success as in recent times.
