The Government of the Azores has allocated more than 750 thousand Euros under the regional support programme for recreational and philharmonic associations - SOREFIL and the legal scheme to support cultural activities - RJACC.
According to the orders published today in the Official Journal, 43 philharmonic from the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira, São Jorge, Graciosa, Pico and Faial will receive the amount of 92,975.82 Euros. The support is intended to fund the activities developed by the bands of recreational associations and philharmonic bands, namely with the acquisition of instruments and respective consumables, uniforms, repertoire, electricity costs and conductors' fees.
Moreover, under RJACC, the Government awarded the global amount of 658,069.53 Euros to 218 projects developed in the areas of audiovisuals and media, performing and visual arts, cultural heritage, editing works, interdisciplinary programmes and other events by different islands of the archipelago, Mainland Portugal and foreign organisations.
This year, the Government of the Azores has already allocated financial support over 321 thousand Euros for the recovery and conservation of building and movable heritage, over 136 thousand Euros for the conservation and promotion of whaling heritage and 28 thousand Euros for artistic creation scholarships.
