Regional Government ensures access of teachers and education technicians to training provided in Mainland Portugal
The Regional Secretary for Education and Culture ensured in Lisbon the access of teachers and education technicians to training provided in Mainland Portugal under the promotion of school success.
Avelino Meneses spoke at the end of a working meeting with the Secretary of State for Education, stressing that João Costa has recognised ProSucesso - Azores for, Education, under implementation since September 2015, as an "inspiration" to the national programme to promote school success that has been in force since April 2016.
"The meeting was satisfying, from the Region's perspective, as the Secretary of State acknowledged that text of ProSucesso programme was inspiring to the construction of the national programme for the promotion of school success," said the Secretary for Education.
According to Avelino Meneses, the meeting with the Secretary of State and the experience already gained demonstrates that "the promotion of school success mainly involves the changing of methodologies and behaviours, even in classroom context, which entails the training of teachers."
During his stay in Lisbon, the Regional Secretary also met with the administrator of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Guilherme D'Oliveira Martins.
"There is a mutual willingness to collaborate," Avelino Meneses said, adding that this collaboration may involve the implementation of a pilot project to combat school failure through new technologies and the subsequent training of teachers.
