The Government of the Azores has granted support over 905 thousand Euros under SOREFIL, a regional programme to support recreational and philharmonic societies, and RJACC, the legal support scheme for cultural activities.
According to the orders published today in the Official Journal, 29 philharmonic bands from the islands of S. Miguel, Terceira, S. Jorge, Graciosa, Pico, Faial and Flores will receive an overall amount exceeding 93,500 Euros. It is intended to support the activities developed by the recreational and philharmonic societies’ bands, namely the purchase of instruments and respective consumables, uniforms and repertoire, as well as electricity expenses and conductors' fees.
In turn, RJACC will also support 243 projects covering the audiovisual and multimedia areas, performing and visual arts, cultural heritage, works edition, interdisciplinary programmes and other events; the global amount surpasses 812 thousand Euros.
Since the beginning of the year, the Government of the Azores has already granted support amounting to more than 132 thousand Euros to the conservation and enhancement of whaling heritage.
