Regional Government moves forward with contract work for new Arrifes School premises
The Regional Government decided today to open a public tender for the awarding of the contract work for the construction of the new facilities of Arrifes Basic Education School on the island of S. Miguel.
According to the Government's decision, the contract work will have a base price of 14.3 million Euros and a maximum competition period of 24 months.
With this contract work, whose call will be announced internationally, the existing buildings will be fully demolished and a new building will be built so that it can be suited to the new legal and functional requirements.
The intervention will also focus on the rearrangement of the spaces surrounding the school building, namely playgrounds and access areas for students and vehicles, including the proposal for a parking area for teachers, parents and non-teaching staff.
The new premises will have 37 classrooms, multipurpose rooms for visual and technological education classes and the respective workshops, music and computer rooms, besides nature science and chemistry laboratories.
The Arrifes Basic Education School, considered as the reference school for the deaf, will be also equipped with educational support and special education offices as well as with a library/media library, a cafeteria and an auditorium with capacity for 100 people.
