The data published today by the media regarding the exams taken by Azorean students who attended school in the school year 2016/2017 show slight improvements compared to the previous year, namely in Basic Education.
At this level of education, three schools now register a positive education: Colégio do Castanheiro School, Flores Basic Education and Secondary School and Antero de Quental Secondary School. The general average took into consideration the Portuguese and Math exams, while only two were considered in the 2016 average.
It was also verified that 16 regional schools are above the Expected Value (2.63 / 2.64), compared to 11 in 2016. In addition, it should be noted that of 25 regional schools listed in the ranking, 14 rose in the national ranking in the same period. This means that more than half of the total number of schools have improved their performance as well as the average.
On the other hand, the 25 regional schools that teach junior high school as well as those that do not appear in the ranking for having less than 50 exams have improved their average compared to 2016.
At the Secondary level, it was concluded that, overall, there were no significant changes compared to the previous school year. However, with regard to the Expected Value in the Azores - expected average taking into account similar contexts and the proportion of exams in each subject - there has been a slight improvement. In fact, the number of schools with an average higher than the Expected Value rose from seven to 10.
