Students from Ponta Garça Basic Education School won contest of ideas for School Sports Games logo
The proposal presented by the Ponta Garça Basic Education School on S. Miguel Island, created by the students Margarida Tavares, Micaela Costa and Margarida Bolarinho, won the contest of ideas for the logo of the 27th School Sports Games.
This contest was intended to select the logo for the 2016 edition of this emblematic school sports project in the Azores.
It was promoted by the Regional Directorates for Sport and Education, both under the administration of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Culture, in the context of the association of school sports to ProSucesso - Azores for Education, a programme for the promotion of school success.
Under the contest rules, the logo proposals to be presented should be in line with the multi-annual theme "Azores School Sports - ProSucesso," reflecting the importance of school sports in the promotion of school success and raising awareness for the social values, citizenship and identification with the school culture.
In addition to symbols, drawings or other images, the proposals were required to include the words "School is Mine!” which is the motto of this year's edition of the School Sports Games.
The contest involved the participation of 25 students, who submitted a total of 14 proposals representing nine schools, including a vocational training school.
The winning proposal is now available on the Portal of the Regional Government at the address http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srec-drd/.
