These actions will take place in Ponta Delgada, Horta and Angra do Heroísmo through the dissemination of methodologies and initiatives that have been implemented and the presentation of projects aligned with this regional smart specialisation strategy.
For the Regional Director for Science and Technology, the "R+D+i - RIS3 Azores Week" marks "the beginning of the last stage” of the RIS3 evaluation and review process that the Regional Government has been undertaking during this year.
Bruno Pacheco stressed that this work “aims to stimulate the creation of synergies and partnerships among the multiple stakeholders of the RIS3 Azores priority areas, especially researchers and entrepreneurs.” According to him, “smart specialisation strategies call for principles of collaborative leadership and cooperation between their governing bodies and the various sectors of society.”
In this context, three workshops will be held, each focusing on one of the priority areas of the RIS3 Azores: "Tourism," "Fisheries and the Sea," and "Agriculture, Livestock and Agro-Industry." These initiatives include the presentation of the goals and results of research projects funded by the Azores2020 Operational Programme within the scope of RIS3 Azores, namely the projects approved under the calls aimed at supporting "R&D projects aligned with regional RIS3 and their scientific and technological dissemination" and "R&D business projects."
The first workshop will be held in Ponta Delgada on September 17, focusing on Tourism, followed by the workshop on Agriculture, Livestock and Agroindustry in Angra do Heroísmo on September 18. In turn, the workshop on Fisheries and Sea will take in Horta on September 20.
