The Regional Fund for Science and Technology promotes a workshop on FIWARE, a hardware and software platform that provides a basis for the development of applications. The initiative will take place in Lagoa on September 19.
The Regional Director for Science and Technology pointed out that this initiative aims to "present" the open European platform known as FIWARE in a "practical way" and demonstrate how to render the development of applications and services more competitive.
"The difference from this platform lies in the fact that these applications under development can be used freely and cost-free," said Bruno Pacheco. He added that FIWARE has an Open Application Programming Interface (API) that "encourages the involvement of users insofar as the goal to become a standard platform with reusable solutions.”
The Regional Director also considered that this workshop is "another opportunity" for the Azores and Azorean companies to position themselves "at the forefront regarding the use of future technologies." In this regard, he stressed that FIWARE is "a platform created by the European Union to develop global applications for the Internet."
This workshop runs from 4 to 8 PM at NONANGON - São Miguel Science and Technology Park. It falls within the activities planned under European FIMAC project and is aimed at professionals and students in the field of technologies.
With an overall budget over one million Euros, the FIMAC project is co-financed under the interregional cooperation programme INTERREG MAC 2014-2020 and involves the participation of teams from the Azores, Madeira and the Canaries.
