Azorean fishing shipowners received almost 2.3 million Euros for fish unloaded this year
Lotaçor has already paid almost 2.3 million Euros to Azorean fishing shipowners for the fish sold at fish markets across the Region from January 1 to February 20. During this period, the quantity of fish unloaded amounted to approximately 2.4 million Euros.
All fish unloaded until February 11 was paid by Lotaçor S.A., a public company that is in charge of the management of fish markets and the network of refrigerator equipments in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The 112 thousand Euros that remained outstanding by February 20 correspond to less than 5% of the volume traded; this amount concerns 11 unloadings by 10 shipowners in a total of 4086 unloadings registered in the archipelago.
At that time, three shipowners had unloaded the fish 3 days ago, 7 days ago and 8 days ago, respectively, while other three shipowners had unloaded their fish 9 days ago; the remaining shipowners had unloaded their catches 10 days ago. The latter case represented the longest payment deadline for fish sold at regional fish markets.
Of the unloadings registered since the beginning of the year, 96.5% were paid on the same day.
Until February 20, a total of 642,380.51 tonnes of fish were unloaded at Azorean fish markets at an average price of 3.72 Euros per kilo, which corresponds to a global amount of € 2,391,981.16.
