Government of the Azores concluded Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS3)
The Government of the Azores has concluded the development of the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS3), which will be implemented in the Region in the 2014-2020 period.
The final document is available at the following address: http://www.azores.gov.pt/Portal/pt/entidades/srmct/textoImagem/RIS_3_Acores.html.
This process began in 2013. In the first phase, the proposal encompassed the contributions provided by regional public and private entities that took part in the theme workshops and meetings organised under the three priority areas: "Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Agro-industry," "Fisheries and Sea," and "Tourism."
In July, the RIS3 proposal for the Azores was submitted to public consultation. The final report included the contributions provided by several regional entities, such as the University of the Azores, companies and individuals.
In late July, following the public consultation process, the Region sent the final RIS3 report so that it may be integrated into the national RIS3 Strategy; the latter will be submitted to the European Commission as a requirement for Portugal's access to structural funds in the 2014-2020 period.
