The Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology announced in Madalena the opening of a tender for the allocation of support to ICT spaces in the Azores. According to him, this measure will "contribute to the maintenance of jobs as well as to the operation and acquisition of new equipment."
Speaking during a visit to E-TIC in Bandeiras, Fausto Brito e Abreu stressed the archipelago's institutions that run Information and Communication Technology (ICT) spaces should apply for this support measure until November 21.
"The support represents an investment of about 600 thousand Euros and each ICT space will receive an annual sum up to seven thousand Euros," Fausto Brito e Abreu added, mentioning the decision taken by the Council of the Government held last Tuesday under the statutory visit to Pico Island.
The Regional Secretary also visited the São Roque do Pico Computer Centre, where he highlighted "the importance of these spaces in the fight against info-exclusion, particularly in rural villages."
Currently, there are ninety ICT space in the Azores, which provide free access to computers and to the Internet.
