The Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology announced today in New York that "there is another drone company that showed its interest in investing in the Azores." In this context, the government official added that "this is the evidence that the Azorean Government has been able to attract technological companies linked to fisheries surveillance and monitoring of the marine environment."
Fausto Brito e Abreu spoke on the sidelines of a visit to the premises of DroneUSA, where he met with the administration board in order to promote its involvement in the future Azores International Research Center.
We plan to sign a protocol with DroneUSA so that this U.S. company may use the drone test zone that was recently created on Santa Maria. The respective opening ceremony will be held during the month of September.
"After Omnidea and Tekever, DroneUSA is the third company in this area to show interest in investing in the Azores," the Regional Secretary said, highlighting that drones will have a "growing importance" in monitoring and surveillance activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone the Azores.
