Public tender for construction of Madalena Fishing Centre published today in the Official Journal
The new public tender for the construction of the Madalena Fishing Centre on Pico Island, with a base price of 990 thousand Euros, VAT excluded, was published today in the Official Journal.
This new procedure was launched after all proposals submitted in the first tender were above the stipulated base price, which was stipulated at 800 thousand Euros, VAT excluded.
The contract work corresponds to an investment of about 1.2 million Euros. It provides for the construction of a 20-metre graving dock, a 17-metre secondary berth that will increase the mooring area for local fishing by about 50%, and a 1,200 m2 embankment.
Additionally, it will include the installation of a 16-tonne crane, water and electricity networks for vessel support, and the construction of sanitary facilities for fishing professionals working at the Madalena Port.
The intervention will create a specific zone within the port to avoid constraints for fishing professionals.
The construction of a graving dock and the installation of a new crane with more capacity than the existing one will increase the number of vessels operating in this infrastructure.
This investment evidences the importance that the Regional Government attaches to the improvement of the working and safety conditions of professionals and the creation of value for fish products.
The contract work has a completion period of 365 days and the intervention is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of next year.
