Regional Government carries out improvements in the access road to Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo on São Jorge
The Regional Secretariat for the Sea, Science and Technology, through the Regional Directorate for Sea Affairs, has started the procurement procedures regarding the contract work for the improvement and stabilisation of the access road to Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo on São Jorge Island.
This intervention includes the coastal protection along the road that connects Fajã dos Cubres to Fajã de Santo Cristo, the repair and construction of culverts, as well as the improvement of pavements, retaining walls and protection walls.
Furthermore, the contract work includes the construction of a parking space in order to reduce the circulation of motor vehicles near the population area.
During the statutory the Regional Government's statutory visit to the island of São Jorge held in April, the Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology announced that the work would be carried out during 2015.
As part of the Regional Public Works Charter, the contract work has an estimated budget of about 170 thousand Euros and will have a completion period of 120 days.
