Regional Government collaborates with the Student's Association of the University of the Azores in the dissemination of Science
The Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology met today with the Student's Association of the University of the Azores, where he conveyed the Government's commitment to collaborate in scientific dissemination activities.
Fausto Brito e Abreu emphasised the availability of the Regional Government to support initiatives organised by the Student's Association with the aim of disseminating scientific culture, such as seminars and conferences.
The promotion of ICT spaces in the Region in partnership with the Student's Association will also under consideration by the Regional Secretariat for the Sea, Science and Technology.
"The Government of the Azores is a major partner of the University of the Azores, either through the signing of contracts for scientific studies or through the funding of scientific research centres and research grants, awarded by the Regional Fund for Science and Technology, which provide important human resources to the University of the Azores," noted Fausto Brito e Abreu.
Nevertheless, the government official reminded that Higher Education is under the administration of the National Government.
The meeting, held at the request of the Student's Association, addressed the interests and concerns of students, namely the statute of part-time students, the instalment payment of tuition fees and the financial situation of the Student's Association.
