Works in access road to Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo awarded for 162 thousand Euros
The Regional Secretariat for the Sea, Science and Technology, through the Regional Directorate for Sea Affairs, has awarded the contract work for the improvement and stabilisation of the access road to Fajã da Caldeira, São Jorge.
These works, announced in April by the Regional Secretary for the Sea, Science and Technology during the Government's statutory visit to the island, include the reinforcement of the coastal protection along the road that connects Fajã dos Cubres to Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo, the repair and construction of culverts, the improvement of the road surface and the construction of retaining and protection walls.
According to Fausto Brito e Abreu, the goal of this intervention is to "improve various sections of Fajã da Caldeira de Santo Cristo trail that show some instability," providing them with better safety conditions, through the construction of protection wall and slope stabilisation, and safeguarding the "environmental sensitivity of the site."
Included in the Regional Public Works Charter, the contract work was awarded to the company Inves Tri, Unipessoal Lda. for the price of 162 thousand Euros and has an execution period of 120 days after the beginning of works.
