The Regional Secretary of the Presidency announced today the inclusion of "SATA as a partner company" as the main novelty for the 2012/2013 Interjovem Card. This partnership "will promote and expand youth mobility through inter-island air travels."
André Bradford spoke at the presentation of the 2012/2013 Interjovem Card, stressing that the discounts on SATA represents "an asset for card holders," who will benefit from a specific fare - "SATA Interjovem Fare." With this initiative, Azorean youngsters will be able to travel with a 50% discount compared to resident fares."
The government official stressed that this partnership is the result of the "negotiations the Government has been conducting for some time," recalling that "the promise made during the presentation of the card last year has been fulfilled."
For André Bradford, "the inclusion of SATA as one of Interjovem Card partners, which now has more than 300, strengthens its attractiveness as a fundamental tool for the successful implementation of a youth mobility policy."
"SATA Interjovem Fare" will be implemented with a 50% discount on the cost of the resident fare in force between June 18 and April 30, 2013. As André Bradford explained, the tickets purchased under the new fare "cannot be booked and their availability may vary depending on number of seats."
Highlighting the symbolism of the presentation of the 2012/2013 Interjovem card at Atlanticoline headquarters, André Bradford stressed the "importance of a partnership with this company" which "was fundamental for the creation of the card." The government official added that "we are fully aware that the advantages brought by the card in the area of maritime passenger transport were the main reason why many youngsters have acquired it."
Throughout the years, Interjovem Card in partnership with Atlanticoline and now with SATA reinforces its main goal: promote the mobility of Azorean youth across the archipelago. In this context, André Bradford recalled that "a few generations ago, knowing the islands and their youngsters was much more difficult that it is today." Nowadays, youngsters "feel the Azores as a whole," said the government official.
To the date, the Interjovem Card has already sold nearly 75,000 cards. For the Regional Secretary of the Presidency, "this project has registered a gradual and sustained growth. In the beginning nearly 4000 cards were sold per year; last year registered the record sale of over 10,500 cards."
In addition to the advantages in the area of transport, one of the main features of Interjovem Card, André Bradford also underlined "the effort that has been developed to extend the advantages offered by the cart," particularly "its discounts."
This initiative aims "to achieve a balance between leisure and mobility, bearing in mind the importance of promoting the access to cultural assets." In this specific context, the government official stressed "the strengthening of partnerships with Portugal Telecom in the area of communication", being of "particular relevance in the daily lives of our youngsters."
