The Council of the Government, which met in Ponta Delgada on October 24, 2012, has determined the following:
1. Approve the inclusion of the investment concerning the installation of synthetic surface at Urzelina football field, municipality of Velas, in the financial cooperation programme with municipalities. The intervention represents a total investment of 600 thousand Euros to be paid under PROCONVERGÊNCIA.
This investment will improve the conditions for the practice of sport in that municipality of São Jorge island.
2. With the purpose of supporting the development of regional sport and its external projection, the following resolutions were approved to support the participation of:
a) Fonte do Batardo Youth Association in the 2nd qualifying round of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup Men, 2012/2013 season, through the support of 11 thousand Euros;
b) Sports Group of Juncal Social Centre in the phase of ETTU Cup - European Table Tennis Union, Senior Men, 2012/2013 season, through the support of five thousand Euros.
3. Approve, under the Incentive Scheme for the Regional Development of the Azores (SIDER), an investment project in the amount of 8.5 million Euros for the relocation of the plant facilities of Fábrica de Tabaco Micaelense SA on São Miguel.
Approve, also under SIDER - Subsystem to Support Strategic Development, the project presented by the Azorean Company of Renewable Energy for the installation of a wind farm on Terceira island, an investment over five million Euros.
This investment will increase power generation from renewable energy sources, thus making the Region increasingly less dependent on fossil fuels which, subsequently, will contribute to its autonomy in the energy sector.
4. Approve a Resolution stipulating the minimum limits to be observed in the difference between maximum prices set for different fuels in the Region and reference prices in force in Mainland Portugal.
Under the resolution now approved, the sales price of fuels in the Azores will maintain a difference compared to the prices stipulated in Mainland Portugal, ranging from 10% for petrol and road diesel, 18% for agricultural and fishing diesel and industrial fuel, and 30% for gas.
The approval of this measure aims to further protect the economy of Azorean families and companies and, simultaneously, ensure the sustainability of the price policy adopted.
5. Award the contract works for the construction of the new Ponta Delgada Health Centre to the consortium "Mota Engil/Marques S.A./Somague Ediçor" in the amount of € 14,280,000.00 (fourteen million, two hundred and eighty thousand Euros), plus VAT at the legal rate. The works have a completion period of 18 months from the date of the assignment of the contract work.
The new Ponta Delgada health centre will centralise all services spread across the city, thus facilitating the access of citizens to health services.
The new facilities will be provided with spaces designed for general practice consultations, such as family planning, maternal health, child and school health. It will also offer a wide range of health services: dental care, physiotherapy, treatment of respiratory diseases, radiography and ultrasound. The Ponta Delgada Health Office will also be installed in the new building.
The future Ponta Delgada health centre will have a total of 32 consultation rooms and 16 nurse rooms.
