Tiago Alexandre dos Santos Lopes, former president of the Board of the Azores Section of the Portuguese Nursing Association, holds a degree in Nursing from the Portuguese Red Cross Health School (2003). He completed a post-degree course with Specialisation in Rehabilitation Nursing in 2009 and a postgraduate degree in Nursing Management in Health Units in 2011.
He has worked as Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing at the Care Unit (2) of Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island since 2014. He collaborated, as Expert, with the Regional Health Inspectorate of the Autonomous Region of the Azores between 2014 and 2015. He served as President of the Board of the Azores Section of the Portuguese Nursing Association between 2012 and 2015.
From 2011 to 2014, he worked as Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service of Santo Espírito Hospital of Terceira Island.
He also worked as Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing at the Respiratory Kinesiotherapy Unit of Divino Espírito Santo Hospital of Ponta Delgada (2009 to 2011) and as Graduated Nurse at the Spinal Cord Lesions Service of Alcoitão Medicine Rehabilitation Centre (2007 to 2009).
Between 2006 and 2007, he worked as General Nurse at the General Adult Emergency Service of Condes de Castro Guimarães Hospital and at the Intensive Care Unit for Burned Patients of São José Hospital between 2003 and 2004.
