Margarida Moura, who currently holds the position of clinical director, will be the new chairperson of the administration board of Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada.
Margarida Moura replaces Margarida França who left the post at her request, citing personal reasons.
The position of clinical director will be now held by Emília Maria Oliveira Santos, an attending physician at the Department of Cardiology who has also held the position of assistant clinical director.
Margarida Moura holds a postgraduate degree in Medicine Law and is currently completing a Master's degree in Integrated Palliative Care in the Region.
She has presented and published several works, two of which have been recognised internationally. She has also organised two postgraduate courses in palliative care, in E-Learning format, addressed healthcare professionals in the Region.
Margarida Moura is a member of the Portuguese and European Societies of Internal Medicine, the Spanish, European and American Geriatrics Societies and the Portuguese Association of Palliative Care. She is also the regional coordinator of Palliative Care.
Emília Santos graduated in medicine. She completed both her general internship and complementary internship in Cardiology at the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada.
She is a member of the team of Internal Auditors and chairperson of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at the same hospital.
She also teaches the subjects of Anatomy and Physiology of the Bachelor's Degree in Medicine at the University of the Azores.
Margarida Moura and Emília Santos will take up their positions on January 1, 2012.
