The Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service (SRPCBA) is one of the finalists of the "112 Awards 2017" awards that will distinguish the services of the European emergency number - 112 that stood out in different categories in the city of Budapest on April 5.
The "112 Awards Ceremony" is organised by EENA – European Emergency Number Association, which recognised the management, dispatch and communication system used in the Azores as one of the best in Europe.
In this context, it is one of three nominees for the "Remarkable Achievement PSAP" category; it represents a remarkable development of Emergency Operations Centres.
The application presented the Azorean assistance and response model in emergency situations, based on the centralisation of the 112 telephone line in one place, the implementation of the Manchester, the development of integrated advice and dispatch systems, the preparation of reports and statistics, and the support and management of medical evacuations in land and at sea.
The specific characteristics of the Azores and the measures adopted to respond to the population of the nine islands of the archipelago with efficiency and quality also contributed to the nomination of the system implemented by SRPCBA for these European awards, which means that it is one of the best in Europe.
This ceremony distinguishes, every year, individuals and organisations that excel in improving and promoting the European emergency number - 112.
In this year's edition, held in the capital of Hungary, the Azores will be represented by the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service.
