Government of the Azores starts process for the expansion and construction of fire stations in the Region
The Regional Government has launched a public tender for the renovation and expansion of the fire station of the Santa Maria Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters.
This project represents a new cycle of renovation and construction of fire stations throughout the archipelago. It is intended to minimise some limitations in terms of safety, accessibility and operating conditions of the current facilities.
Included in the Regional Public Works Charter (CROP), the contract work for the expansion of Santa Maria Fire Station has a base price of 610 thousand Euros and a completion period of 180 days. It is part of a series of investments in this area, which includes the expansion of the fire stations of Santa Cruz das Flores and Lajes do Pico Volunteer Fire Brigades as well as the construction of fire stations in Povoação and Horta. These interventions represent the fulfilments of the commitments taken in the Programme of the XI Regional Government of the Azores.
These investments in regional fire brigades are intended to improve the safety and operational conditions in the geographic space of the Azores, thus enhancing their resilience and response capacity for rescue missions in any scenario of operation.
The contract work that was now launched on Santa Maria, through the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service, includes the creation of a single building with the construction of a new structure that links the two existing buildings.
