Government of the Azores increases vacancies under the incentive scheme for the maintenance of medical staff in the Region
The Regional Government has carried out a revision of the vacancies under the incentive scheme for the maintenance of medical staff in the Region for the current year. It will cover a total of 60 doctors for Hospitals and Island Health Units.
According to an order published today in the Official Journal, the support measure will comprise, this year, 24 hospital medical specialty vacancies, 17 general practitioner vacancies and 9 public health vacancies.
This revision follows the demand for medical specialities by hospitals and health units that were not initially covered by this scheme or the requested number of vacancies surpasses the initial estimates.
The incentive scheme will cover the following specialties at the Ponta Delgada Hospital: Anaesthesiology, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Medical Imaging, Urology, Pathology, Dermatology and Clinical Haematology.
With regard to Terceira Hospital, the support measure will comprise the following specialties: Pathology, Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Intensive Care Medicine, Nephrology, Oncology, Urology and Pathology.
As for the Horta Hospital, the following specialties will be supported under the incentive scheme: Cardiology, General Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Immunohaematology, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics, Urology, Nephrology, Medical Imaging, Psychiatry and Anaesthesiology.
