Horta Hospital distinguished with Honourable Mention "TOP5 '17 - The Excellence of Hospitals"
The Regional Secretary for Health congratulated today the Horta Hospital for being distinguished with an Honourable Mention in the 'TOP5 '17 - The Excellence of Hospitals" prizes. They are awarded by IASIST, a multinational company dedicated to benchmarking studies developed in hospitals belonging to the National Health Service and regional hospitals. The prizes aim to distinguish the best levels of performance on an annual basis.
"It is an honour to have a hospital among the winners and it is, simultaneously, the recognition of the work performed by the health professionals of Horta Hospital for the benefit of the Regional Health Service users," said Rui Luís.
The honourable mention awarded to Horta Hospital aims to distinguish the hospitals with the best performances in the evolution of clinical indicators over the last three years.
Unlike other hospitals of the National Health System, only the clinical results of the last two years have been evaluated in the case of Azorean hospitals.
The Horta Hospital was the hospital unit that yielded the best evolution results in overall clinical indicators, when compared to the remaining hospitals of Group B.
The evolution of its results represents a decrease in the number of unexpected urgent readmissions as well as in the improvement of the adequacy of hospitalisation times according to the characteristics of the patients treated.
This health care unit competed in this category with seven public hospitals from Mainland Portugal.
IASIST promoted, for the fourth time in Portugal, the awarding of prizes to National Health Service hospitals that annually show the best performance levels among 44 health units in competition.
The prize-delivery ceremony was held Tuesday at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and was attended by the President of Saudaçor, who represented the Region.
Five prizes were awarded in two different categories, namely "Consistency" and "Clinical Evolution," for each type of hospital in accordance with the classification criteria of hospitals as defined by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS). Overall, ten prizes and an honourable mention awarded under this competition.
